The Cat, Georges Simenon
Fiction
Concert-fiction
As part of the collection initiated by France Culture and the Comédie-Française of radio adaptations of works by Simenon, we have chosen Le Chat, a novel by Georges Simenon, published in 1967, which was adapted for the cinema in 1971 by Pierre Granier-Deferre with Jean Gabin and Simone Signoret.
This book depicts a couple in their seventies, Émile and Marguerite, married for a second time, no doubt to fill their loneliness. A war has broken out between them and they no longer speak to each other, only communicate through notes on scraps of paper.
Halfway between literature and theatre, we will perform this magnificent text as moving as Le Train, which we had already created at Studio 104 with Guillaume Gallienne from the Comédie-Française.
